Spring Trend: Jumpsuits/Rompers

Next on my list of cool spring trends is the jumpsuit/romper. I must admit, when I first realized that this look was making a comeback I was a little bit troubled. In the more recent past, this has not been a look that I found particularly stylish or flattering (Think the J.Lo denim jumpsuit). However, I have quickly become a convert. The jumpsuit/romper is done in so many different ways, that there is, I believe, an option for anyone who wants to try the look. Thankfully, the tight denim jumpsuit has not made a comeback. Instead these looks are much more chic and more reminiscent of the 70’s easier, version of the trend. Some jumpsuits/rompers that I’m craving include:

This adorable Ali Ro printed romper..

A black, hot pant, halter version of the look by Alice + Olivia...

And this more casual look by Haute Hippie.

If you’re still not convinced about this look, I’ve found one more option. This romper by Sumner is cool, because it gives the impression that you’re wearing two pieces instead of one. It may be a good transition piece for those who are still scared to completely commit.

Spring Trend

There are quite a few trends this season that I love. Some trends are old, some are a little bit newer, but regardless I’m looking forward to the weather warm up so I can wear them. One of my favorite trends is prints. I absolutely love wearing prints, and this spring seems to be all about soft, romantic floral prints. While I love the brighter, more artsy prints of seasons past, I’m totally into floral as well. Here are some of my favorite prints:

I absolutely love this Marc Jacobs heart print top. The colors are rich and bold (which is another hot trend right now) and I just love the whole idea of the heart print. If you’re a fan of this, you should check out some of Marc’s other heart inspired pieces, from an amazing handbag covered in heart cutouts to cute, chic heart covered ballet flats.
This Matthew Williamson print dress is another piece that I’m in love with. Again, I love the bright, rich colors and the contrast of the different hues.
Tibi is one of my favorite new lines, and the printed pieces surely do not disappoint. This flowy dress has a great vintage feel.

As far as floral prints are concerned, I’m a really big fan of this Paul and Joe blouse…

This Single floral print dress….

And this Paul and Joe Sister tiered floral skirt…..

Roland Mouret Leggings

I just quickly wanted to write about these amazing leggings that just showed at Paris fashion week. They were seen in the RM by Roland Mouret show and I am officially in love with them. Just when I thought designers had exhausted their options in coming up with new, unique ways to make leggings, I was proven wrong. These snakeskin print leggings are so cool that I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw some people copycat-ing them in the near future.

By the way, the entire Roland Mouret show was amazing. I was expecting to see more red carpet looks, but he came with much more accessible clothing which was very appropriate given the current economic climate. I was in love from start to finish of this one. Here are some of my other favorite looks from the show:

Fashion Week!

I know I’m a little late as Paris fashion week is just now about to wrap up but I had to write a note about my favorite trends from the runways, so I’m starting up with New York. As in past years, I watched fashion week from my couch, pulling up photos of the collections online. While unfortunately, I have not yet been able to witness the collections in person, I still find myself getting excited and feeling strangely disappointed when the week is over. But, my whining is of no consequence. I definitely found tons of things that I would wear, things that inspired me, and things that I wouldn’t personally wear, but that were stunning to look at nonetheless.

One of my favorites of the week was Abaete. I love the flirty and playful aesthetic of the look. I also really love the pairing of a dressier skirt with a simple tee-shirt. The juxtaposition of the casual with the dressy is great. It makes the outfit more interesting.

Another designer that excited me was Derek Lam. I’ve been a big fan of his for a while now, and he definitely did not disappoint. Some of my favorites include a white, beautifully draped knee length dress, a strapless number with knotted bows on the bodice, and my new guilty pleasure, the sparkly dress. It’s kinda Studio 54, but I love it. It’s so fun and with this particular dress I really love the combination of the gold and black.

As far as gowns are concerned, my hands down favorite of the week was definitely J. Mendel. Mendel showed a gown in a few variations that I thought was absolutely stunning. The first was a lovely blue v-neck dress cinched at the waist with a big black bow, followed by a gorgeous plum, one shoulder gown, and a black v-neck gown with bow detailing on both shoulders (which was by far my favorite).

Other gowns that I loved include this long sleeved, red, Victoria Beckham number...

and this Carlos Miele one.

Speaking of Carlos Miele, I was absolutely in love with this dress as well. I love the rouching, and the detail on the shoulder.

One trend I’m loving right now is ruffles, and I am a big fan of the way Alice Temperly did them this year. Again, these ruffles may be a bit extreme, but they’re SO pretty….

There were lots of prints on the runway again this season. Some of my favorite printed ensembles of the week include this Tibi maxi dress.

I also loved this Tory Burch floral dress...

and this Matthew Williamson piece...

and lastly, this print from Nicole Miller.

Now, I have to end this post with this fantastic Halston dress. I know this collection didn’t get the best reviews, but I absolutely was in love with this piece. It’s sexy, but not too much so, and drapes beautifully.

There were tons of other pieces that I loved, but time doesn’t permit me to get to all of my favorites in one post. Next on the list: Milan fashion week. Stay tuned….
