Investment Piece: Chanel 2.55

Today I'd like to pay homage to what I think is, the most iconic handbag in fashion history, matched only, possibly, by the Birkin. However, if I had to choose one bag, the Chanel 2.55 would definitely be it. Created in February of 1955 by Coco Chanel, the bag has managed to be just as chic today, as it was back then. The 2.55 is the kind of bag that you can keep forever and wear at any age. There aren't too many other pieces that can stand the test of time like the 2.55. Although expensive, this classic bag, in my opinion, is the ultimate fashion investment. Most exciting is that there are so many variations of the bag to choose from. Each season, Chanel comes out with a new and modern design of the bag. This one is my current favorites:

Fashion Review: Met Costume Institute Gala

I always look forward with anticipation to the Met Costume Institute Gala. The fashion, in my opionion is much more interesting than the Academy Awards, so of course, I had to give you my thoughts on the best and worst dressed of the night.

My favorite of the night was Ivanka Trump in Brian Reyes. I absolutely love the nude hue of the dress with the black embelishments. The gown is so chic and it looks amazing on her.
Claire Danes in Burberry: The dress fit her perfectly and I especially love the draping of the bodace and the shoulder detail.
Jessica Stam in Rodarte: Unlike many, I wasn't a very big fan of this look on the runways of Fashion Week, but I have to admit this looks great on Jessica. It's just creative enough to stand out at an event such as this.

Kate Hudson in Stella McCartney: The dress hangs fantastically on her and I love how she chose to go with minimal accessories.

Ashley Olsen in The Row: This all white gown is looks amazing. I love the train and the subtle sexy detail in the back.

Mary-Kate Olsen in Christian Lacroix Haute Couture: Mary-Kate maybe should have taken some cues from her sister. I appreciate taking a fashion risk but this dress was not a good choice, and the discheveled hair certainly doesn't help either.

Madonna in Louis Vuitton: Okay, so I generally love Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton, and I understand that Madonna is a spokesperson for the brand, but did she really have the wear this? I would say more, but I think the outfit speaks for itself....

Leighton Meester in Louis Vuitton: It hurts me, but I have to say that Louis Vuitton just wasn't much of a hit last night. This is one look that definitely should have stayed on the runway. I'm also not so sure that all of those curls are helping.

Tyra Banks in Badgley Mischka: I love Tyra but I hate this look. The dress is all wrong, and I have to insult the hair as well, because this funny looking bun thing on the top of her head is horrible.

Rachel Weisz in Vera Wang: This is an example of a gown that was good in theory. This Vera Wang dress is beautiful but the pale hue is all wrong for her skin. She looks incredibly washed out. It just doesn't work.

Rachel Bilson in Bally: This is an example of a sexy dress done tastefully. It fits her imacculately and the bright color really pops in exactly the right way.

Gisele Bunchen in Versace: Another great sexy dress; Gisele of course can make almost anything look good and she looks stunning in this Versace number.

Eva Longoria in Diane Von Furstenberg: This is another great example of doing sexy in a tasteful way. The color and cut of the dress are perfect because they assist the eye in going straight to the dramatic detail of the gown, which is the keyhole cutout. Sexy, but still very tasteful.

Blake Lively in Versace: Blake Lively definitely does not pull off the sexy look well. The ridiculously high slit and the low cut neckline are just way too much.

Kate Beckinsale in Marchesa: On a positive note, Kate Beckinsale looks fantastic. The dress is just over the top enough for the Met Ball but still manages to be pretty.

I'm in Love With...

Fiona Paxton necklaces. These necklaces are so unique. They come in tons of colors and patterns, and look great with just a basic tee. I predict that they will become a huge trend for two reasons. One: Tons of celebrities like Isla Fisher, Hillary Duff, and Drew Barrymore have already been spotted wearing them. Two: I already ran across a $30 knock off in boutique in Little Five Points....
